"Minutes To Midnight" fue lanzado el 15 mayo de 2007 en los Estados Unidos, y el 14 de mayo del mismo año en los demás países. El primer sencillo, que se llama "What I've Done", fue lanzado el 2 de abril de 2007. El álbum muestra el nuevo sonido de la banda. Su productor es Rick Rubin, quien ha trabajado con artistas como Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave, Metallica, Weezer, System of a Down, Limp Bizkit, U2 y muchos otros más. El videoclip de la canciín What I've Done ha sido censurado en algunos países debido a la polémica que ha causado.
